The schools and programs that participate in this program are affiliated with the Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools (PNAIS). At this time, we don’t offer opportunities to other non-profit organizations or the general public to have a table or advertise at the event. However, I am willing to disseminate information on behalf of Girl Scouts, provided you would be willing to advertise our event with your constituency. Soledad,
This event happens one time per year. Unfortunately, I don’t have any of the materials from all 33 schools that participated in the fair. However, you do have the opportunity to visitthe website those schools by clicking on the links on the right side of this site. Also beneficial to you would be reading the admissions and financial aid sections as they will assit you in finding the school that will be best for your child. I hope this helps you in your search. It is too late for this year as the fair is on this coming Tuesday. You have the potential to participate next year if you are a member or affiliated member of the Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools (PNAIS). All you have to do is let me know your interest in doing so. If you are not and would like to consider becoming a member, please go to http://www.pnais.org.

My son attended public school k-7th. He had a hand full of great teachers during that time but overall the public system did not work for him. He is very smart and well mannered but beginning in 1st grade the schools were suggesting that he was dyslexic, add, special ed and eventually he was being sent to detention. (his offenses were always mild and never hurtful.)
When his public school was closed we chose to send him to a very small and diverse and affordable independent school on Beacon Hill for 8th grade. There were only 16 kids in the 8th grade so he could not hide or be overlooked. He THRIVED! They had high expectations in behavior and academics. There was no particular group of students who achieved higher/lower than another group, all students performed at their abilities.
My son moved on to an all boys private high school where he is taking honors classes. This school is 44%students of color.
I know that he could not have accessed the honors courses in public school because he was not on that track.
Since switching to Independent schools my son has developed confidence, self motivation, a renewed sense of love of learning and an understanding of what is expected of him.

I am committed to independent school education for my son and daughter because I want to be sure my children have the best opportunity for a solid academic foundation that will last them a lifetime. The elementary years are the time when they are being shaped. My children are elementary age and right now they are forming opinions about school and learning and I want to be sure those are strong and positive experiences.

My son attends an independent school for a variety of reasons. He is surrounded by a community of learners and a sea of support. His academic and social self has been nurtured, developed and strengthened over the course of 5 years. I am excited to see the individual that he will become within the next 3 years. The curriculum is well-balanced. The resource classes (arts, technology, spanish, science, PE, drama, library and music) are equally significant in my son’s educational experience. As a professional single-parent, I have also been afforded the opportunity to receive financial aid to help ensure my son’s academic and extra-curricular successes.

I chose an Independent school for my daughter, for lots of reasons. I love the small class size and the attention that the teachers can provide. The setting is perfect for learning and building selfesteem. I like all the activites that they provide, music, art, science, computer, language (spanish) and so on and so on, I did not receive some of these types of curriculum until I was in High School. What a head start I am providing for my daughter.

Most importantly I have a concerned group of people (advocates) supporting me/family and my daughter. They will assist me with tackling issues and working through her needs as she grows and matures and that is invaluable.

Thank you very much for your quick reply. I am planning to attend the fair on 24th to explore possibilities for my daugher. I will see if fI can find schools that match her personality and learning style.
