Why should you consider independent school education?

Why should you attend the fair?

A Matter of Choice

A Matter of Choice

Welcome to the Independent School Fair for People of Color (ISF4POC) website!  It has been our pleasure to provide families of color the opportunity to expose, explore and enlighten themselves about Pk – 12 grade experience at independent schools.  For the past five years, we’ve welcomed over 850 Seattle area families to the fair.   The 34 independnet schools and programs that  participate are accredited or affiliated members of the Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools (PNAIS). Families who attend the fair will meet admissions personnel from schools all over the greater Seattle area (Seattle, Kirkland, Bellevue, Redmond, Medina, Shoreline, Sammamish), Tacoma and Oregon, answering inquires about the academic curriculum, school community, financial aid opportunities and what makes their institution unique from the wide range of other schools. The fair also features a panel discussion with students, parents, and an admissions director from area independent schools. The discussion topics will range from discussion of their academic experiences to why they choose to make the commitment to attend and support independent school education.

As you peruse this site you will note sections on how to prepare for the admission and financial aid process and comments from parents who have children in independent school. For your convenience, we have provided a link on the right side of the webpage to connect you to the participating schools.  You are highly encouraged to look at multiple schools to determine what institution will be the right fit for your child.  As a prospective family, each school offers you plenty of opportunities to visit via personal tours and/or an open house visit.

While the ISF4POC is designed specifically for families of color,  all families who wish to attend are welcome.
